Guys. It is so fucking hot.
This morning, I went to get coffee in my nice, airy summer clothes... It was wonderful. I had wind blowing through my shirt and shorts and espadrilles... very "happy summer Saturday"-y.
Then, the only two words that could ruin my lackadaisical, easy-going, care-free summer day crossed my line of vision:
Free CouchThe additional three words made me realize that it was about to be a not-easy, not-lackadaisical hour:
...in the alley. Two flights of stairs and an entire hallway later, I moved the couch. Err, excuse me: couch with HIDE-A-BED pretty much alone considering I'm much physically stronger than Conor. He picked it up and I said to myself "Fuck. Why do I love the skinny ones?"
But here it is. I have an apartment with not only a bed, two TV tray tables and a television... But now I have a couch (with makeshift black satin slipcover). Also, in the last two days, we found what I like to call an "old man in the park playing chess" table with the painted on black squares nd a cast iron base... AND a torchierre lamp which lets off BEAUTIFUL soft lighting. AND a card table! All found on the first landing in the staircase of my apartment building.
FOR FREE, BITCHES!AND! My darling Margaret is visiting me for two days this week, and now she has a place to sleep! (and everyone else who wants to visit, too!)
Awesome.
Margaret, I probably met her a total of 6 times at Taco Thursdays before we moved. We clicked SO SO HARD, it was amazing. She's so positive and just radiates beautiful things, like progress, ambition, and kindness. She's one of a kind and I was so touched when she wanted to come visit me after knowing her for so little time.
It's remarkable to me because I always consider people my "good friends" about 5 meetings before they consider me a friend... She is one of the first people who have returned the sentiment, and has been as openly expressive about it as I usually am. It gives me hope that I'm not just a crazy, over-eager girl who's desperate for friends.
I finally almost have a real apartment.
